The stained glass windows in the facade of the church were designed by the painter Mariano Ballester who was born in Alcantarilla. San Pedro's tiara and two pigeons holding the Eucharist are situated in the center of the stained glass windows. San Pedro, who was a fisherman, is on the baseboard on the front facade with some people of Alcantarilla.

Formerly, in the past, the area where the main after of the church parish of "san pedro" in Alcantarilla is located was a garden, and in the XIX and XVIII centuries. It was a cemetary because the dead were buried in cemeteries attached to parishes. In 1961 the church was demolished to build the current, one and the occupied part of the garden to make it bigger so it could fit more people. The altarpiece was made by Anastasio Martínez Varcarcel. This altar contains the figure of the biggest Chrost crucified in Spain, being 7 meters high. A curious detail is the decoration in relief of family members who paid for part of the altarpiece between the years 1975-1980.

The Virgin has been in San Pedro´s Church since 1967. Before that, it had been in the Convent of the ''Mínimos of San Francisco de Pula'' since 1721, and it was called the Child Virgin or ''Virgin of the Presentation''. It remained there during the XVIII and XIX centuries until it was moved in the XX century. When San Pedro's church was built, this move was more appropriate for worshiping of the Virgin, as the Convent of San Francisco was always closed
. At the end of the XVII century, the bubonic plague invaded Europe and many people died, even in Spain. According to the tradition, the Virgin was taken out in procession and stopped the plague. In gratitude, she was renamed the Virgin of Health.
